A coffered ceiling is a grid of recessed panels framed by beams. A waffle ceiling is the same idea on a tighter grid, with smaller squares and a more detailed look. Both add depth and shadow overhead, turning a flat ceiling into the feature that makes people look up when they walk in. They suit dining rooms, offices, primary bedrooms, and great rooms especially well.
The whole thing lives or dies on the layout. A grid that ignores the room leaves you with awkward half-coffers along one wall. We measure the space first and set the grid so the panels land evenly, the beams line up with the room, and any lights or vents sit where they belong rather than clipping a beam.

How we build it
We start with a free measure and a layout drawn to your actual ceiling, so you can see where the beams will land before anything goes up. Once the grid is set, we build the beams, level everything to the ceiling, and fasten it solid so there is no movement or sag over time.
Inside each coffer we can add crown, trim, or a painted or stained panel, whatever suits the room. Then we fill, caulk, and leave the ceiling clean and ready for paint. Because ceilings involve careful layout and overhead work, we give you a realistic timeline up front and keep the site tidy throughout.

Not necessarily. Standard eight and nine foot ceilings can carry a shallow coffer or beam grid that adds depth without making the room feel low. Taller ceilings can take deeper beams. We size the beams to your ceiling height during the estimate so it feels right.
